Just wanted to see what your thoughts are on this installation, whether I should move it or if you think it's okay.

Seems like a great spot for it, and of course it's where the much smaller factory Ignition box was mounted.

Thanks...

Just seems to me that its going to get alot of heat there-especially right above the engine...but hey if it works for you then mount away

You're right, but I don't think any other area in the engine compartment is much cooler. I just figured the factory one is mounted there so why not? But if it's a bad idea then I guess I could move it.

Not a whole lot of places to mount it - the side aprons get the heat from the headers and I don't have room for it towards the front.

mount it inside the car, under the dash on the firewall. Not very much engine heat there and it is out of the elements.

Honestly, I think it looks terrible but whatever floats your boat. :)

I've mounted them on the passenger inner fender of my E-body almost next to the core support and also under the battery tray in my B-body.

I've also seen guys mount them on the front of the core support behind the grille but that's a little too exposed to the elements for me. Honestly, though, how many of us really drive our cars in the pouring down rain on a regular basis?

i agree. mount it under the dash by the glove box. that spot is no good. way too much heat for that box.
plus it looks like **** there. way too busy up there. if you want to mount it in the engine bay, put it under your battery tray.

Thanks for takin' one for the team brother. If you like it though, then it stays. Leave it there for a bit and see if it grows on ya before you move it. I'm new to Mopars and when I comment on a potential modification I get a blank look from a long time Mopar bud. What was I thinking?

Sorry I asked. I really don't care if you think it looks like ****. That wasn't my question.

Actually, you did ask.

See...

Gee, sorry I wasn't explicit. I was asking about the "installation" not the looks.

"Just wanted to see what your thoughts are on this installation"

If I wanted to know if people thought it looked like **** or not I would have asked "do you like how this looks".

Whatever, I wasn't looking for "that looks great" either, I wanted to hear about the good/bad about insta... whoops, I mean the spot where it's mounted.

And people gave you their opinion of why they thought it was a bad spot.

This is an internet forum. If what people have to say bothers you, don't ask questions.

Hey BuiltPoly318, don't worry, it looks good there, clean install. You shouldn't have any heat issues there. Under the hood on yer car there probably isn't a lot of options of where to put it, so it's probably just fine there. It's your car anyways, you can put it where you want it.

The install looks good.

It's not the opinions, it's the delivery.

But I'll take your advice. I'm done.

The last thing I, or anyone else, wants is you to stop asking questions.

My point was that there are going to be people that give an opinion, whether or not you (or anyone else) likes it. I don't think the people that replied in this thread saying it looks bad had intent to upset you, they just gave an honest opinion of why they thought it was a bad spot. Nothing more. You're right, they could have said it much different than they did, but this is the world of the interweb where everything gets taken the wrong way, no matter the intent.

Install looks good.
I had problems with one heating up on my 63 Polara, but it had headers. mine was located in the same place

I have a Mallory box mounted on the right apron under the horn. Another suggestion, if I may... would you rather walk around all day with your fly open OR would you rather the first person that sees it to tell you ?

you know that what i said wasn't trying to hurt your feelings or integrity. i'm on here because i try to help people out and try to have people that make mistakes, and with my 35 years of experience, i try to help so they dont make the same mistake i did. that's all.
there will be too much heat for that msd to last for a long time plus to me its an eyesore.
i'm sorry i offended you.it wasn't my intention.
i'm not like a lot of guys that will just say oh it looks great when it doesnt.i tell it like it is,
