Have had my strokerbuild for the charger ready approx 5 months now
but it will certainly be a month or 2 before I can start her up.
Do you guys turn your engine manually sometimes during a waitingperiod?

Sounds like you have a fresh motor and have not fired it yet?If so you do not want to turn it over you want to keep the break in lube on all your bearings.

my builder disagrees. he says turn it every month or so to relieve the springs.

Yep, I agree.....had my 440 on a stand for about a year my builder told me to pour some oil in (enough for the pickup to get of course) and turn the motor over by hand to lube everything up and to relieve the springs as daredevil already said

If it was my engine, I would oil & it turn it over on a regulator basis. i would also back of on the rocker arm adjusters to relieve the spring pressure.

Just had a thought (yes, it hurt and was very lonely!) that us Mopar guys can loosen our rocker shafts so all the valves close on engines in storage. That 1) takes the tension off the valve springs, and 2) seals the combustion chamber by closing off the intake and exhaust ports on all cylinders. Turning over an engine by hand would not pressurize the oil enough to get it everywhere, would it? Maybe a combo of loosening the rocker shafts and every so often using a drill and a shaft to run the oil pump would do? Just thinkin' here...

DING DING DING we have a winner. I'd loosen up the valve train and leave it be. Spin the oil pump just before you're ready to fire it.
