My names mike and I just had a fresh rebuild done by me and a couple friends on my 63 880. It runs beutifully! Here's my problem. The parking brake was on when we pulled the transmission. A 727 pushbutton. It now will not release. The cable is fine. But the pawl acts like it's wedged on the gear. Has anyone had this problem? Is there a way to manually release it? Help! The transmission was fine when pulled and we pulled the pump and it was immaculate so we just painted it and put it back in

Call one of the race trans builders. I'm sure they'll know immediately.

Are you talking about the park leaver for the transmission or the emergency brake pedal for the rear wheels?

With the park leaver disengaged, did you try rocking the car forward and back?

There isn't any catch device in the shifter mechanism for the park leaver. Just a spring to hold the leaver in or out. You could loosen the clamp that holds the park cable at the transmission and feel if it's hanging up there.

I'm thinking you didn't adjust the park cable correctly at the trans. Read this and check your adjustment.

By the way, welcome to the site!

Welcome Mike,,,Sounds like only a adjustment problem,,,when you pulled the trans.,it moved it in lock and you should be able to free it .also you may have it in gear,on the shifter, not the park pin, which is also only a adjustment, which is very important with push buttons,,,Have fun, you'll figure it out!
