Dodge Releases FIRST Electric Vehicle EV Charger Daytona SRT Banshee

Looks like a Camaro. Hey Dodge - how about coming up with an original name instead of pooping all over an iconic one?

Chrysler has had no problem putting the Charger name on whatever car they are selling that year. We had these in the 70’s.

And then this in the 80’s.

But I think this irked me the most... a police car! :D

Retard to Siri: Siri, where can i find a charger to charge my Charger?

I'm not really amped up about this "Daytona" however it beats the heck out of what Ford did to the Mustang Mach name.

I suspect it will be as popular as the Volt
& about as successful too (total taxpayers funded debacle)

no thanks,
no amount of Govt. subsidies will make up for it's :gay: -ness

Of course an EV is not going to be well received on a muscle car forum, just as I'm sure the Mustang Mach-e is being ripped on the Mustang forums.
But Dodge is at least attempting to legitimately blend 'EV' and 'performance' in the same sentence. And they designed the Charger to not look like a sock puppet, or a caricature of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (I'm looking at you Rivian).
I've ridden in Teslas and yeah they're very fast, but they're so homogenized that there is no driving experience. You just sit there. Dodge is changing that, and it's going to revolutionize the EV industry.
It still doesn't resonate with me, but people looking to go EV in the coming years now have a choice other than a silent sock puppet. Dodge won't be able to keep up with the demand.

If they want to embrace the EV movement, then let it stand on it's own. Why add that lame windup noise? You could probably find a way to make it sound like a Nitro funny car, too, but in the end, it isn't that. So why even try to pretend?

I'm ambivalent. The styling is in line with what I've come to expect from 4 door Chargers. I didn't even notice that it only had 2 doors. The roofline clearly says that it's going to have four when it enters production.

While I'm not thrilled with the styling, it's exactly the level of "meh" I was expecting from the next 4 door. I sort of like that they tried integrating a front wing. It isn't pretty, but it's ballsy.

I recall there was talk of the government requiring EVs to make some noise, so pedestrians don't get run over in parking lots. If that's the case, I can't complain about the idle noise. We're going to hear much worse. Especially when people use their own custom sounds.

The revving sound isn't totally unreasonable. Electric motors do have a sound when they rev -

I think people are mistaking the revving sound for an imitation of an ICE motor when it actually is an exaggerated version of the sound an electric motor really makes.

A driver turning on a V8 soundtrack on an electric car makes as much sense as asking your woman to verbally fake an orgasm, both sounds ain’t the real thing.

What would you rather own, a Harley or an electric bike with an old credit card flapping in the spokes?

I think it smore about what the dirver hears that what is piped out.. they could have used straight cut gears from the motors to the driveline and picked up all kind of fun sounds.. like the ferari in the youtube above. Thats the gear whine not the motor and a good idea for EVs

I'm waiting for this one to come out!!!!

Well, I'm hoping next year I can get a new 5.7L or 6.4L Challenger next year dependent upon personal factors. Waiting to see what they release for colors and packages. I was hoping they would give a few extra years of the V8 but, looks like this will be the last "newish" gas powered car that I purchase since the movement is toward Electric. Might as well enjoy it while the the party lasts.

As I've stated I've driven two Ford Fusion Hybrids which is the closest I've driven to electric besides an electric forklift. Driving the Fusion was a very sterile driving experience on the electric motor. For me it was too quiet especially with no radio and just the AC on. On the highway just tire and wind noise with little feel and no excitement. About as exciting as a nap.

Here's a little outrunner making noise -
