Good day!
I'm wracking my brain trying to find some information on the big-block unsilenced air cleaner I need to find for my '67 R/T.
1. Does anyone have OR even seen a '67 unsilenced air cleaner WITHOUT the little 90 degree C.A.P. nipple on the left side of the cover?
2. Is there a difference between '67 and '68 unsilenced air cleaner covers? I know the bases are different (4-1/8" versus 5-1/8").
Many thanks to those who are willing to share their knowledge on the subject.
I wish a Blessed thanksgiving to all. Kevin P

All 67 R/T or GTX dual snorkel air cleaners that I’ve seen have a base that the lid sit on, meaning the element only sees air from the snorkels.

You can convert your dual snorkel into an unsilenced base by using a base from an unsilenced air cleaner.

I have checked out the Nick's Garage page and, as RemCharger pointed out, that IS EXACTLY the one in question. BUT, you can't see if the C.A.P. nipple is there or not!!
Has anyone even seen a '67 unsilenced air cleaner WITHOUT the little 90 degree C.A.P. nipple??
Thank you to all...

No, I'm not. I just like it compared to the dual snorkel deal. My car does have the 4326 carb, non-C.A.P.

Yes, I had a 68 Formula S 383 Barracuda with one on it. It was a very early build 68. Also I have a 67 Coronet R/T 24,000 mile original that I was told this is it's original air cleaner.

Hi Jerry, OK so let me make sure I understand you correctly.
Your '68 had the unsilenced air cleaner WITHOUT the cap nipple??
Thanks for your help. Kevin

Yes, like I said it was a very early build, and was probably a leftover 67 piece. No nipple.

Some late year produced 67 dodge coronet R/T s came with unsilenced large air cleaners w/o the nipple. As they went into the 68 year some had the large unsilenced air cleaner to be changed by the smaller unsilenced as the model year progressed. I was also aware that some late built 67 Coronet R/T's came with the Carter AVS rather than the AFB. In the past Chrysler did some strange things. Hope this helps.

Thank you John. Yes this helps. Now I know the non-C.A.P. unsilenced exists so I'll keep on looking.
The 1967 parts book only has one part number for the big-block unsilenced cover. A and B body, 383 and 440, w/ or w/o C.A.P., w/o snorkel ...2863 986 which implies one cover (with a C.A.P. nipple) for all unsilenced covers with the non-C.A.P. cars getting a little rubber plug for the nipple. You see lots of those.

My 67 Coronet R/ T 4-speed has the unsilenced large air cleaner without the nipple and a 4326S Carter AFB. May build date.
