Yesterday I swapped out the 741 open 8 3/4 for a brand new center section with 3.55 gears and an Eaton Trutrac from Quick Performance. Everything went smooth and I was breaking it in according to their instructions by driving for 15 minutes and then letting it sit for 30-45 mins. After the 3rd cycle, I saw some gear oil leaking from the passenger side rear wheel. I parked it for the night figuring that I nicked the seal when I removed the axle. When I took it apart this morning, I found a small spring in the axle tube. I've never seen a spring like this in any part of an 8 3/4. It could have been in there for years, but I don't know what it is or how it would have gotten in there. Does anyone know what it's from?

That's likley from the inner seal. Seals have the spring to keep the rubber on the sealing surface. Likely was damaged when the axle was installed. I pack the back the back sides with grease to keep the spring from popping out.

Looks like stated above, an axel seal spring that got dislodged

And that's why it's leakin'.
And I forgot to say, it is supposed to be in a circle form-----both ends attached-----together----ya know round like------Sorry---lol.

Aha! Thanks everyone. I was really scratching my head on that one. Glad it was simple.
