I am using duck duck go, so I have no ads.
But I find a search for my sale posts do not come up, unless I put my user name in the member box.
The ad I post will show similar items at the bottom.
I have gone so far as to copy and paste a similar items description as mine, and their post will show as similar, but mine will not up in the others same discription post
Will buying a gold membership help my marketing ability?

I usually have to use the advanced search under my name and a close title description and then they will show.

Click on your name on the upper right. PC OR laptop or turn your phone sideways if you are using that. Click on your content and you will see your ads there.

I understand how to find my ads.
I want them to show up for others.
Especially in the similar items search below other for sale items.

To answer the question in the thread title - No.

A well-written advert following the rules with the price being attractive will get attention.

I'm guessing this is all in reference to ads getting ****- canned after 30 days?? I looked up the OPs bumper for sale.. nothin'. Feb 7. But when I look it up under his activity.. there it is. Locked.

They don't get "**** canned" just locked for no action, as far as I have seen. If you place an ad and no one is interested it will get shuffled back on the list and eventually locked.

That is normally reserved for those who would be eligible for the Special Olympics as competitors.
Ok now that's getting dangerously close to home, tanks

But seriously, AFAIK, when your ad mysteriously disappears, there is no notification whatsoever of that happening.
Am I off base?

When an advert has no activity for 30 days, it automatically locks....that's built into the software.

If a member wants it re-activated, it is as easy as contacting a Mod to re-open it.

That's what we're here for....and to take abuse from those who have nothing else better to do.

I have never seen one disappear unless we remove it for whatever reason. I delete old ads from time to time if the seller made a new ad and there are old ads still in the system. No reason to have numerous ads for the same thing especially if the old ones have been locked. That is a rare occasion if I do, but it has happened.

Thanks for clarifying. So a non gold( or both) should be smacking the bump button at 29 days if your item didn't sell?

Non gold can't bump ads at all. You can add new photos, information, or reduce the price though. You can start a new ad after 2 weeks as well.

Thanks Mike. I did some poking around and searching in the sale ads.. and it does indeed seem that when you search, only older ads of gold members appear. To me that answers the OPs question; yes a gold membership would help someone find that old ad in a search.

Gold members can bump every 3 days if they need to - but really it's preferred that just a bump is not posted....add pictures or a price drop.

Non-Gold members could give their advert a kick at 29 days provided it was to add value to the add - price drop, or different pics.

Gratuitous bumps will be deleted.
