In the beginning: Dodge, Plymouth, Oldsmobile, Buick, Ford, Chevrolet, American Motors all had a dog in the race.
It's down to 3 manufactures now...what does that tell ya.
In my opinion B.F.Jr. family took all the fun out of the sport. Same basic car shapes now, stickers to differentiate manufactures. Takes the innovation & motivation away from the manufactures to push the engineering and design to the next level of competition like in the old days. The engineering from race cars eventually finds it's way into the street cars we get to play with today. Kinda glad Dodge walked away on top when it did...
