1962 Fury. In the 60s my dad changed out the 3 speed and 318 for a 383 and 727 transmission. after 50 years in pieces i am trying to get back on the road. As i said the it came with manual trans, now with the automatic trans i noticed there is no button for park. I think i know why but am not sure. What i think is i have seen pictures with a lever to the left of the buttons that controlled park. All i have is a piece of plastic that covers a hole where those parts would have been if that car came with an automatic trans. Am i right? I am going to Carlisle in a couple weeks. Dose any one know what parts i need to make this happen. I have nothing to reference to know what i need

I have a handful of the push button units, but their all 64s.
What you need is probably the lever itself, and the cable that goes with it, that goes from the lever to the trans park sprag...(hell, can't spell this morning!)
You'd have to check for the 62 stuff. Good luck on your hunt!

Check with Joe Suchy he will be at Carlisle or Jim kramer look in the program it will tell what row there in I believe 62 and 63 are the same , the park lever comes with the push buttons its all one piece should try to get one that has cables on saves alot of searching

you will also need the dash panel with the shift button holes, and a small mounting plate that fits the back of the shift mechanism to hold it to dash 62 63 same 64 different. best to find a complete set up

i have all the panel and all the buttons all in place. I was reading last week about 727 transmissions and realized my dad never added the parking lever. I asked him why. He doesnt remember but said he probably didnt think he needed it. Sounds crazy now

I don't have the lever but I have the auto dash piece I will trade you for the stick piece you show in the pic thanks

I think the first question is, what year is the transmission? If it's 66 up,none of the shifter setup will work. If the trans has 2 cables coming out of it, and a flange on the output shaft, you should be good, but it's best to find out the year of the trans,as the cables could be different.

Its a 1963 and from what i have been reading they used the lever from 62-64. I am going to take pictures for when i go to Carlisle next week.

Second, im not looking to trade right now just in case i end up going back to a manual transmission.

my apology i went out to the garage to make sure and its not a 63 its a 1961 727. i took a picture of the shift cable and i believe the stud sticking up just above it is the park control. it does move by hand
