I have almost finished my restoration of my 69 Roadrunner and one of my door glass windows goes up and down really hard. I replaced the felts and weatherstripping in the tracks along with new window fuzzies and such. My car was a basket case when I got it and I got lots of extra parts with it. I had someone tell me that the vent windows are different between a hardtop and a post car and that I possibly used a vent window setup from a post car when I should have used the hardtop window and track. Everything bolted up properly but the window is just really hard to move. Can anyone offer advice?

Not sure about the diff between post and hardtop 69 RR Mine is a Hardtop, but I had the same problem. I was told the weather strip that attaches to the window that rides up and down in the vent glass channel that is replaced and the plastic taps that hold it to the glass are a little wider then the original.
What I did was got some Graphite and put into the channels and very day worked the windows and they did get better ,I was also told that Silicone spray works well. I knew one thing for sure I did not want to take them a part again !!!

Hope this helps !! Tom C

Yeah, those old door-glass setups are a PITA and it's an art to do them easily. I like the graphite idea, but keep silicone away from my cars. It really raises hell, if you ever need to do any paintwork on the car. The stuff is like a plague.

Did not know that about silicone. Thanks

yea, this was a real PITA to put together....not to mention that plastic strip and the nylon guides are an expensive kit for what they are. I can try the graphite. I did try using some Vaseline and it pretty much just made a mess

Oh Yea Give the graphite a shot and keep working them ,mine seem to get better or I got stronger lol
I posted the same thing on another Mopar site and was told the those plastic taps were a bit longer and the best way to fix was take them all apart and file down a bit. No thanks lol it is a pain in the butt just putting vent frames back in to the doors with out doing any damage to paint
I will for now live with it for now I got a feeling the more I work them the easier they will get:icon_salut:

Where would I order the guide stuff that goes on the sides for the windows? My windows wiggle around some in the guides now. I know they need replacing. I see by this post, that it will be hard, but it looks like I need to atleast do it to my drivers door. The glass just wiggles too much.

Hello Alyerpal2!
Glad to hear your busy on your car...
I was just looking and I got those window felts from one of the bigger restoration companies... I sure any of the vendors on here dealing with weather stripping etc could help you out. You're building a wicked street Hemi RR, you will have no trouble with window felts. If you do,,send me an email and I can look in my service or parts manual...when I find them... I would suggest not moving to another house with a small small garage when you have a disassembled B-body...
Good luck with yours sir!
I can relate to health issues...but I'm looking forward to seeing your car!

Maybe tomorrow I can check my interchange manual and see if you have the correct vent windows.
I have some extras that came from a 69 SBee and I have a 68 coronet parts car that may have the windows in the doors still.
I was thinking of cutting out the outside of the non repairable door to a. Look at the regulator etc, see what's happening in there...
Feel free to email me & I will check the Hollander books!

so, does anyone know if the vent window track is different on a hardtop from a post car? I assume the window glass is different but is there a difference in contour of the window or just the physical size?
