Purchased reproduction door lock knobs from OER through Classic Industries. Original on right and the reproduction on left. Too big on the outer diameter to fit down (through) the ferrule hole. Product number MD700 for 64-74 Mopar A & B-body. I wish they wouldn't even sell them if they can't make it the right size.

Did you buy the Door lock Ferrules MD101?? I did and they fit perfectly with the knobs

I have the ferrules installed. The knob is too large (wide) as per the picture and absolutely will not fit down (into) the ferrule
I should correctly answer your question. I did not buy the reproduction ferrule. I have the cars original ferrule and lock knobs.

I did the same thing. Ended up buying a set from a car part out. It's been about two years since i bought mine. You'd think classic would wise up by now.

Send them back and tell them to stuff em .
It blows my mine that they have an oem part to copy from and they can't make it the same , some one has already done the hard part designing the oem part the reproduction should be easy to copy but I guess not , make some junk and send it out the door.
Yep I think we have all been there before with crappy reproduction parts.

The repop ferrules are made for those knobs. That’s probably why mine fit.

I wonder if I'll have to buy their reproduction door, and reproduction hinges to go with their reproduction ferrule, so that their reproduction plastic lock knob fits. Geeesh. Thanks tons for the reply.

Lol no worries, mine fit on the original doors. And given that AMD makes all the sheet metal.. lol

I had the same problem with the diameter to large and got the new ferrules also, still no good. I ordered some straight chrome ones from flea-bay that we much smaller diameter. They look better anyway.
thanks

Classic Industries wrote me back and said, " Good Afternoon Mark,
We have seen some cars that have needed the MD101 (ferrules) to be purchased because theirs is (a) small(er) ferrule then the MD700 (lock knob can fit into). We believe it might be different factories or times of the year (that made the ferrules and lock knobs I'm assuming they mean). We do know the MD700 and MD101 work together." And they provided a picture. I do appreciate that they replied.

Hey guess what.. mine fit like those. Just like every restoration shop that buys new lock knobs and ferrules for their cars. Given with mopars we’re lucky **** is made. Having for the longest time we had to “dumpster dive” as in junk yard. Or word from mouth hunt parts. Not bitch about the littlest thing. Personally for my cars and customer cars I’m glad I have parts used to restore them and with multiple conversions with Mark Woreman as well, the aftermarket is still tough. Be grateful is all I can say.

The purpose of the post is not to "bitch about the littlest thing", but to help people who have or will in the future buy these re-pop locks that are not made to original size. I am most grateful that there are parts and companies making these. I'm not as thrilled that I spent my money on something that was not made the correct size but clearly is marketed to me as such. I'd prefer they just tell me that I should buy new ferrules with the locks knobs as well. What I learned from you and this post and Classic Industries, is that they fixed the issue by making oversized ferrules as well, which fit their oversized door knobs. Hopefully this will help someone in the future, which again, is really the purpose.
