Door lock problems!?

None of the door locks in my 1964 Fury 4 door work. The doors will open and close (and stay closed) just fine from the outside or inside handles, and the key will turn the locks, but they don't lock. Also on either front door, the lock buttons by the windows won't push down. Anyone can open the doors at any time. Well, this won't do.

Does anyone have a diagram of the lock mechanisms, or an idea about what to do? Thanks!

It could be something as simple as the latches being dry and full of dirt and crap.
I'd start with removing the door cards, see if everything is actually connected........give all the latches a good dose of Inox or whatever you'd normally use........it's a cheap fix if it works.

Check the lock linkage inside the door. Mine were all messed up too - same as you - the buttons wouldn't go down. But in my case, I think someone did it intentionally to keep them from locking because there's no key for the doors. I fixed one, but left the other disabled so I don't get locked out! Still haven't gotten around to getting new keys or locks.

I think these locks were designed with anti-idocy features. I CAN'T lock the leys in my car because I need the key to lock the door from the outside...

You cant push the lock and close the door. It just don't work.

My 71 Torino had anti-stupidity fetures...had to push the button on the handle while closing the door after pushing the lock...could still lock keys in, but had to make a consious effort to do so.

If you can't push the lock from the inside with the door closed...check the linkage.

If the key turns with the door closed but the lock doesn't lock...check the linkage.
