Doug's Headers on a 1966 Coronet RB

Cheaper at Jegs, I was about to buy some hookers but these are $100 cheaper

Son put doug's on his 340 barracuda...they worked fine...looked good

Does anyone have any experience with these Doug's headers? My gut tells me that 2'' tubes and 3 1/2'' collectors will have fitment issues; but the reviews I have read look pretty impressive. I am mainly looking to save a few hundred dollars as compared to tti's. Thanks in advance.
I used the 452s wich are the 2" with 3 1/2" collectors on my 66 Coronet with a 440 and they fit like a glove. Had to unbolt each mount and jack up engine on each side and I couldn't leave studs in to hang them on until after I got them in place but no big problem. Dropped my center link also and used a mini starter.

Got em on my 68 coronet, two things, they don't quite line up with the notches on the cross member with 3.5-3" reducer stubs (think this would be the same with any slip fit stubs) and the grease nipple on the pitman arm carved up one of the tubes - worked this out too late, installing a plug at the moment to avoid more damage.

Other wise sh!t hot. Would happily buy them again as the fit a heck of a lot better that the hookers that came with the car.

ctreser,

I assume you have a power steering car? Did you go with a thermal coating? I was planning on getting a uncoated set to make sure they fit, then have them coated locally in hopes to minimize bumps and bruises to the ceramic finish. Thanks for your help btw.

Mine were ceramic coated and my Coronet has power steering. I just blue taped the heck out of them. Probably too much. lol Your welcome.

Great news, thanks again! Was doin' a little snooping on your pictures (great looking car)... What size rear rims/tires are you running? I am going to attempt to fit a 15x8 rim wrapped in 275/60's. Any thoughts? Also, are you looking for a Coronet 500 grill?

I'm running 15x8 with 235/60's rear and 15x7 with 205/60's front. I have about 1/2"-3/4" clearence on each side in the back. I already have a extra grill. Thanks

275 by 15 will work with a special backspace wheel.(I've heard but never seen)....I have 255's on 8.5 rims and they just make it.

Just for curiosity, is there any big block header made that you don't have to take a ball peen hammer to?

I have TTI, and while I didn't need to take to the headers with a hammer....there is only enough clearance between the starter motor and one tube to slip a hacksaw blade through. Pretty tight I'd say. :D
