Drum brake question

I believe the finned brake drums began in 1969.
The brakes were not part of the Hemi Suspension but rather the Hemi brakes and the name depends on the year. The Hemi suspension and Hemi brakes that were standard on the Hemi powered cars were actual (and actually called) POLICE suspension and POLICE brakes in 66-68. In 1969 the marketing department hung the name Hemi suspension and Hemi brakes for sales purposes but they are still coded as POLICE items.

Here is the info from the 1966 Dodge Dealer Data Book.

My broadcast sheet for my 1966 Hemi Coronet has it coded for springs, shocks, torsion bars, sway bar and brakes as these POLICE items.

I should have been more clear. 11x3 up front and 11x2.5 in back. Finned in back only, which doesn't make a lot of sense, but I suppose they worked well when they came out. As I said they work well on my 66 Bel.

All of the 30-50 drum brake performance 68-70 B-Body 383 or 440 cars i parted or have seen that where original through the years had 11 x 3 smooth drums on the front and 11 x 2 1/2 finned on the back. When using disc brakes up front the 68-70 B-Body and 70-74 E-Body used 10 in drums on the back except AAR and T/A they had 11 x 2 1/2 finned drums on the back and all AAR and T/A cars had disc brakes up front

One correction to my previous post all 68 and early built B-Body performance cars had 11 x 2 1/2 smooth drums on the back the finned 11 x 2 1/2 drums on the back started sometime around mid 69

That is what I was saying above. My 66 Hemi Coronet with Dana and 11" brakes were smooth drums front and rear.
