Hi All,

I have now ordered two sets of rear shoes (10 in drums) for my 68 rr....both from summit, one bendix brand and one summit brand. Both sets have these large notches on the top where my return spring and emergency brake levers go but the originals have smaller round holes. There is no way for the return spring to hold with these large notches. Here is a pic....the right is the original.

Is there a specific brand I need to order or maybe they make springs that work with these?

Thanks for the assist!!

Seems like I ran into this problem on my 66. I believe I ended up ordering a set of shoes for a 1965 belvedere and that solved my problem.

Thanks....So maybe I should try a 67? Not that these are real expensive but it sure does add up having to keep buying different sets. Fortunately summit took the first ones back but would feel bad making them pay for return shipping again on a second pair....if anyone needs the summit brand pictured, I will sell cheap!

You may want to go to Rockauto and compare part # of different years.

Thanks...didn't even think about that approach!

Might be able to get them in a local parts store - I bought my 67 Coronet shoes at Carquest in stock, Napa had them also. Should save some on shipping maybe, I would call your local auto parts stores.

Beware the pic ROCKAUTO shows is not always what you get. Ask me how I know.......................

Same with Summit! The last set showed the part I needed but it came with the squared notches. I will try a local parts store first!

Rockauto will let you compare the part # that you have now and see what years have a different part #. Part stores should be able to cross reference rockauto's part #. I wouldn't think the pics would be reliable.

Rockauto actually calls out on some that have the square notch hole versus round so I should be all set...thanks for your help!
