i had to put my car away last fall, dropped valve, with a lot of slick rubber coated on the lower rear 1/4's. needless to say it has hardened on there and thick.
what is the safest way to get it off without screwing the paint up? thanks for any help. rick

Spray with WD-40 to loosen up and wipe it off. Very messy. Wear gloves...

Mineral spirits also works, just test it in a small area to see if its going to harm the finish.

I ALSO USE GASOLINE ON ALOT OF PAPER TOWELS.wd30 is also good but takes time to loosen it up.
gas works faster.

I use toulene. she works pretty good and working in a tire shop avalibilty is pretty good.
