Hi Ffolkes. It's been over a year since I worked on my 1965 Coronet, but I am digging it out and getting back to it but I have some questions I don't know the answer to.
Answer as many as you feel like-
1) Will 1968 big block B-body headers fit a 1965 with big block? My 1965 is 440 powered WITH power steering and 4 speed..... I have had a brand new set of Hedmans sitting around for years and hope they might work.
2) If not and I have to buy new headers what brand headers will/wont work for a 1965 with a 4 speed.
3) If I go exhaust manifolds route will the repop Mancini racing HP B-body manifolds clear the clutch linkage in a 65?
Thanks,
Neal

1. My first guess would be no. But if still unconfirmed, I would at least try, even if it meant a few dents, based on Engine Master testing results
2. TTI, pricey but are the best header, just wish they would offer a SS solution and be really pricey
3. I have no clue.

1) Yes, according to the Hedman Catalog.
2) I have had Hedman, TTIs and Dougs on my 63 Fury with a 440. The Dougs had the best spark plug clearance. Since my car is a street car I recently switched to Tri-Ys for easier maintenance. Gave up horsepower for more clearance around everything.
3) I recommend going with a hydraulic throw out bearing set-up which will insure you don't have any clutch linkage hassles, although they're not cheap. Super Sport Transmission, American Powertrain and McLeod are a few brands.
Good luck...

Is someone selling/building Tri-Y headers currently?
Mike

1. Most header catalogs I've seen say no. Probably because of the forward engine placement of a 62-65, compared to a 66-up k-member.
BUT.... I've never heard WHY they don't fit, from somebody who has tried it. Since you have the headers already, I'd sure try em, and then come back and tell us what you find.

I think I will check first and if they don't work I will see if I could do some minor mods to make them work

We agree on #3

You can assemble a hydraulic slave cylinder (Speedway Motors) with a brake hose for under $80 or so. You will have to fabricated a mounting bracket which is pretty basic.

I've ordered a Pypes headers back exhaust (minus mufflers) with h-pipe back in May. Summit first had estimated shipping of 6-10. That came and around 6-15 it went to 7-9. Now it's 8-12.

65 Coronet 383 TTi 2.5 .... Doug's headers. After install it went to a pipe shop for welding up to the headers.

Doug's headers do not hang down....Had some clearance issues on the Rt side.

it’s a 383 but may help someone. Left side hit the steering box and the mini starter. Right side one tube hit the oil pan rail and and the trans pan rail. Some bending and beating and they fit!
