I received this carb (1966 4131s) loosely assembled and I want to be sure the secondary boosters are installed correctly. Are they correctly installed in the pic?

I think your secondary boosters are installed backwards. In my 1967 FSM, I can make out in the pictures that the top vent holes go to the front. They need to be swapped side for side. Those 4131-S carbs have to be the most common AFB's out there. I have rebuilt a few of them and have seen many more out there at swap meets.

Thanks, the part numbers also read upside down vs the primaries in this position too. I’ll swap them.

See the notch in the bottom of the booster? That fits the body only one way to seat flush.

And if you get the notch wrong [ left in rt side & vice versa ], you can crack the booster...

There is nothing for the notch to align with.

My 66 Hemi carbs have a little nub in the floor of the recess that locates the correct size booster. Maybe it wasn’t universal. You can see it in this picture if you enlarge it a little.

You will find the primaries have the cast in lug in the body & the correct booster [ with corresponding notch ] must be fitted the correct way. Otherwise the idle & high speed ccts would be reversed & the carb will not work properly.
This particular carb only has a high speed [ main ] cct in the secondaries, does not have a low speed cct like many do. So there is no L or R sec booster, can be fitted either way.

Agreed, just checked 2 67 carbs, both have the air bleed to the front.

Per carter manual, the secondary venturi numbered 828 (stamp on the venturi leg going to booster) goes on passenger side of carb. Side with choke pull off.

The 829 goes on driver side or same side as accelerator pump.

That confirms what everyone else is saying. The vent hole goes forward.
