Early hemi motor numbers

This is my '55 331 Hemi. Got the main parts from a friend, and I started work on it. Align honed, squared, bored 0.060", Crank ground 10/10, studded mains, Ross 10:1 forged pistons on Molnar H-beam rods, LA style SFI balancer (re-cut 1/4" keyway for the hemi crank), lots of other "Hot Heads" goodies too. Heads were mismatched, so they didn't mill even to get to the same CC size, so... Aluminum heads, roller rockers, VC, intake, and dual quad FItech injection. Just currently a short block, but the rest will come after the new hone gets paid off...

My "Tex Smith" book says that the Chrysler trucks and marine engines used the early front covers which would explain that. The block casting does identify it as a 354, and the front cover and long oil pan acknowledge it as a marine engine, but what is the date code to the right of the block casting?

to the right of the block casting numbers, W 7 D-N

well 1954 was a 331 car truck and ind motor , but 356 wasn't not around until 1956 and it was car truck and ind . so the difference is bore size . the strokes are the same . but that sad , turbo or blower can get the power out of it . low enough c/r for the extra boost and great heads for a boosted motor . just bolt on the power no need to mess with anything but valve springs due to the boost level . so call hotheads or weiand or dyers . not a fan of bbs . and there are a lot of old school guys still building setups for those early hemis . that is what i'd do . lol . I need one spark plug wire, driver side rear closest to the cap. have an extra. need it just for at this time.

What language are you speaking????

sold my 331 yesterday.

spark plug wires are no good , i never keep them . but i do keep the ceramic ends . i just dropped by my buds shop to see what's up , and found him working up another early hemi he's mounting a sbc water pump on it . its a 392 block crank and pro ported heads roller cam with down draft webers when its done , he said ''it will be a kick *** street motor, for sure'' . and a couple shots of his early blown 354 hemi engine for a vintage digger rail job . and a little 241 dodge he went through for the guy to stuff in his 32 ford .
