So, I'm getting ready to make a trip in a (borrowed) RV - a 40' Newmar Ventana 3962 diesel, towing my '06 Wrangler behind. Heading down the east coast (I95 corridor) to the FL keys and back. Got 100 gal on board so I have options for where to stop, if pricing is significantly different from state to state. I have no problem doing "tactical" refills if prices are super low, even if I'm only down a half tank or so. 100 gal will probably equate to 750-850 miles of range, depending on traffic, speed, etc. (yes...I'm planning for 7.5-8.5 mpg overall...but it IS a 44,000 lb gross combined weight - 26,900 lb empty - rig with a 350hp Cummins ISC, after all...), so I can pretty much stop wherever/whenever I want, depending on pricing. It won't be a case (like a car) where "oh, I'm almost empty, I guess I better stop now..."

If anyone who lives along 95 (ish) gets a chance, could you post up what your diesel prices are these days? I have GasBuddy on the phone, but would be nice to kinda pre-map where to stop. It's gonna be an expensive trip regardless, but if I can save a few bucks on diesel along the way it won't hurt. Thanks!!

The first exit you will see when traveling southbound I-95 into Georgia is Port Wentworth. There are many stations and all are $3.189 per gallon for diesel. Do not take this exit after 2:00 p.m. because traffic rapidly increases thereafter.

The second exit is for Jimmy DeLoach. Turn right and go down to Benton Blvd. Again, prices are $3.189 per gallon.

The third (Pooler Pkwy) and fourth (Hwy 80) exits are for Pooler, Georgia. Again, prices are $3.189 per gallon. Don't take these exits between the hours of 10:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. and never after 2.30 p.m. Side note: There is a Cracker Barrel restaurant and The Mighty Eighth Museum on the east side of I-95. Take the Hwy 80 exit and go under the I-95 overpass. You can see a B-47 on your left while traveling southbound I-95 before you reach the Hwy 80 exit.

Do not exit onto I-16. There is road construction everywhere.

Traveling further south, the stations around the Richmond Hill exit(s) are I-95 (ish) in location (within a mile or two of I-95) are $2.889 per gallon for diesel.

Georgia State Patrol uses bright blue and silver Dodge Chargers.

Port Wentworth PD uses white Dodge Chargers and white Ford SUV's.

Pooler PD uses white Ford SUV's and maybe a few white Chevy FWD cars.

Savannah PD and Chatham County uses mostly white Ford SUV's.

Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) uses large black Chevy SUV's. Their focus is on tractor trailers, dump trucks, and vehicles like yours.

Awesome, thanks! Keep em coming!

I won't worry too much about cruisers as I'll likely be at or just under the limit (70 iirc) due to the 4.63 gears...but I Waze anyway, and their alerts are usually pretty good.

Yep, I wouldn’t get fuel in the keys. It’s more of a question of having the space to maneuver, than the price. I would get the fuel at the Pompano exit on the Florida Turnpike. When I just checked the price, it was 3.30 ish there. Surprised it was advertised for less than Ft. Pierce.
My friend says he gets his fuel in the second exit off 95 going north into Georgia, which would be the Kingsland area. He also likes to stop at Buc-EE’s in St. Augustine. I stopped going to Buc-ee’s in my coach flat towing my car. Tired of the idiots that block you in and then lock their cars and go in to eat.
Right now,the prices seem to be a lot lower than they were at Thanksgiving. I’m sure the Christmas and New Years prices are going to go up.

In FL at Daytona Beach (exit 265 LPGA Blvd) there is a new Buc-ees with the cheapest prices around. Was 3.15-3.20 last week. When you get off of I95 turn left and left again at second light. Easy access and pumps just for RVs. If you were driving a car you can get $1.00 off a gallon by buying a car wash. $16 They claim it's the biggest car wash in FL.

It'll be a 2 stage trip, I have family in St Augustine so there for a few days, then down to the keys. The run home will be a marathon though, just an overnight (if that) in st Augustine and back on the road.

I plan on having around a half tank at the campground. Won't need the generator because it's a full hookup site, so half tank or more will be ideal. It'll be bad enough filling the wrangler down there - that's why most of my commuting and touristing will be done via mountain bike and kayak! I've been there quite a few times, so I know the lay of the land pretty well. Wrangler with bike rack from campground to stock island, park the jeep on a side street, hop on the bike. I won't cycle island to island, but if I'm exploring within an island...it'll be cardio time :)

For $16 I may buy the wash anyway. I can either run the Wrangler through (if they make you in order to redeem the savings), or just bag it. Spend $16 to save between $50-100? Uh...yea.

All great info, thank you so much!!

You can also check out Gas Buddy. They have a trip option that may help.

Looks like the "trips" feature is a reporting thing, that analyzes your trip, and looks at your driving habits to help you avoid heavy acceleration/braking, so you can save fuel costs. Doesn't look like it's a route planner....bummer.

Absolutely worthless for your trip, I know, but the best price near my Cali house is $4.42 for diesel. Most cheapo's are about $4.75, name brands well over $5.
My most recent fillup in AZ, best price close to home was around $3.25, but I had a trip to make past our cheapo station, so I bought at $3.01. It was at $2.99 for about ten minutes, the day before.
Local prices are down about $.25 cents since the election.

Looks like diesel is $2.99-$3.50 the entire way down 95. Even the north end of the keys is $3.50. Doesn’t hit $4 until the end.

If you can find the fine print on that, let us know.
