For an Edelbrock Thunder AVS, can the fuel floats be swapped from side to side without issues? In some of the literature I'm seeing, it says "mark the pump side fuel float as floats need to be reinstalled in same location."

I rebuilt my buddy's Thunder AVS, and now he's having issues keeping the car idling. Not sure if a float issue, but rather hoping for an installation goof. (going there in a half hour to troubleshoot the issue).

If the floats are specific, is there any way to tell which float is which? When I disassembled the carb, I studied the floats and saw no distinguishing marks between the floats.

Float are identical, only reason for putting them back in same location is that no float level adjustment would be necessary.

They are the same. Did you clean out the a/f needle seats? With the car running if you screw them in all the way the car should stall. If not they may be clogged. The rest is really easy to rebuild. Just make sure float level is set correctly (high and low) and the accelerator pump gives a good shot of fuel.

may be a piece of dirt in the idle jet. what was the reason for the rebuild?

Eddys are pretty simplistic, either dirt or adjustment.
Is the engine stock?
If modified, a spring/metering rod change may be needed.
Disconnect the fuel line and crank a clear mason jar half full, let it sit for a few minutes. You'll be able to see sediment/water issues if you have any.

Issue was easier than all the above. My dumbass put the fuel needles in backward, so guessing car was being starved of fuel.
Thanks for all the tips.
