Howdy,
i've got a old Eldlebrock carb with the following numbers on it;

0142 1406. Those numbers located on the edge of the base. on the top is; 8822. and on the back is C5. First one to tell me what this is so far as possible CFM and age gets my sincere smile and remote handshake.

LOL thankx

once i find out what it is, any of your opinions as to it's worth to rebuild or simply to replace? So far it's going to go back on my rebuilt (all forged/.040 over) 440, if I get such suggestions from y'all. Otherwise, it will go to the S-can for replacement.
TY

It's a fine carb and will work well on a bone stock 440. You could go with a 750 easily but for the price of the upgrade vs. getting a kit to freshen yours up I'd stick to what you have. It also depends on what you want out of your engine. No matter what a proven good working carb that is cosmetically nice should bring nearly half the price of a new one if you decide you need to sell it. Just something to think about.

to both don and meep, and others who looked, thank you very much for your info. I don't think the 600 is enough CFM for this motor. So, I'll start savin for a 750 as has been suggested on several other occasions and by the builder.
thanks again. MERRY CHRISTMAS
DAVE

the 600 from edelbrock is said to be good for mild motors up to 454ci according to edelbrock. I have it on my mild built 383 (new) and works great!

thanks for that also. Can i still get a rebuild kit for a carb this old? Is it worth it?
