I need some ideas as to what you guys are running for an air cleaner/filter setup on your EFI engines. Pictures of your own setup would be a great start....I'll be getting into something different shortly that I have never had before. :)

What manifold and throttle body? Most 4-bbl style throttle bodies on a 4-bbl intake just use a normal round style filter? Depending on the EFI setup the air filter may need to have room for the air temp sensor.
The Edelbrock XFI manifold that I am using has a large single blade throttle body mounted on the front of the manifold and really not much room to direct fit a filter, so it has a few 4" elbow and tube length going to a K&N cone type filter.

Looking at the Holley Sniper unit for now. Unsure which way I'm going right now....gathering up some ideas still. Going on an LA360 ....I did see a K&N filter setup in Summit's book a few minutes ago. Manifold is an Edelbrock 7576

Is that for the truck? I might have a 14" Moroso Drop base filter setup with a 14"x5" K&N filter that came off my '84 RamCharger after I rolled the truck and parted it out.

Yes it is....PM coming. :)

I use the FiTech units. A standard 5.125" 4 barrel based air cleaner fits fine. A dropped base will work if you need more hood clearance, but I needed a 1/2" spacer with my drop bases to clear the fuel inlets.

Holley Terminator set up. Don’t mind the terminal showing, changing wires to Accel Extreme 9001C, they have ceramic boots so I won’t burn through them anymore.

I installed a FAST throttle body system. I hid the installation as much as possible, and with an Air Grabber, I used the original air cleaner and base...

How does that system run now Hawk? I know you initially had issues, but has it settled down now? And do you need to run a diagnostic tool across the system periodically, or is it just drive and enjoy?

Thanks for the pictures....everyone.

Hi Kiwi,

Yes, I had problems initially with my system. FAST said it was my wiring and forced me to run around trying all kinds of difficult crap. I finally had to prove to them it was a faulty ECU. When they sent me another, my car instantly started working fine. So, FAST tech support SUCKS!

However, I have to say the system itself has been flawless once I got the working ECU. No fuss, no BS, no worries. It starts and runs in any weather, it idles perfect, with or without the A/C running, etc. When I drove it across country it was perfect, regardless if I was at sea level or at ~14,000 feet (Pike's Peak). There is a screen that can read codes, run diagnostics and also adjust parameters in the ECU for timing, etc. But there is no need to run any diagnostics unless there is a problem. So far, so good - just drive and enjoy!!!

Cool....thanks for your help.

i used a summit racing one: SUM-239434B $40. it is 14inch in diameter

it sits atop an MSD Atomic EFI. i tried a few different drop base ones but could not figure it.

id like to rip out a headlight and rig up a hellcat like intake

I have had diff. results, dealing w/ the guys at fast. Among the best I`ve dealt w/ for anything, any time. Dave is really a nice guy to talk to , and very knowledgable . They are busy in the racing season tho .

I am glad you had different results. Quite frankly, the more FI systems FAST sells the better off I am am because the system will be supported better and much longer.

I built my car very carefully and I spent the whole winter integrating components into my harness and under my dash. My specific issue was that I had an early ECU with noise issues. FAST fixed this with later ECUs. However, when I was calling them with my issues, they CONTINUALLY blamed my wiring (and made me make a bunch of changes that were very difficult to make under the dash). They never asked about the build date of my ECU. Even when I discovered the early ECU issues through an internet search, they pretty much refused to acknowledge the issue. I finally forced them to send my another ECU (which they made me pay for). When I plugged in the replacement ECU the system INSTANTLY started working properly. So my experience was not good with their tech support. On the other hand, as stated, the system has been flawless since that time. I am very happy with the way the car runs and drives.

I run a ram air box, I've had it since 2000. First with a carb and more recently with MSD Atomic EFI.
With the Atomic you can really see the difference on the inlet air temp. When I first installed the Atomic I quickly
tossed on an extra air cleaner from my truck and drove it 15-20 minutes. It was a75 degree day and inlet air temp was between 90-100 degrees as it took air from under the hood. With the ram air box it gets close to ambient as you drive down the highway. The only tough part is how to route the hoses to get outside air without having it look crappy or cutting holes in the core support which is what I did. My Charger is really just a driver, it was a New York car years ago so it has rust underneath.
Since I have a 22" radiator I had a little room to cut in the 4" tubes. But 3" would probably be plenty large enough.
