hello gang
have 383 automatic RR just put a carb on motor with electric choke ant suggestions on where to get proper source of 12 volts
thanks

Most guys tap into the 12v feed to the ballast resistor

Across manufacturers, the current draw of a choke heater coil will vary. Initially, the coil will draw more current until it warms up, then the current will reduce when hot. Typically the coils current draw is a few amps cold then when hot, (choke open) reduces to less than 1 amp. Many folks get switched volts from the IGNITION side of the ballast resistor, not the coil side. If in doubt, use a multimeter to measure voltage on either side of the resistor WITH engine running. You want to be sure that you connect to the side that is the HIGHER voltage (same as battery voltage) that terminal will be the switched 12 V IGNITION LEAD and not active with key off. The other option is to get a source of switched 12 V off the fuse block or ignition switch which is not a easy as connection to the ballast resistor.
