Electric fuel pump for street cars

I mounted mine up high on the rear shock mount/frame rail. It's a light duty helper unit that pumps as needed. Never hear it except when the key is on and it's filling the bowl, then it's basically quiet.

Make sure you use locking or self locking nuts so nothing backs off. Also, a return line will take the load off the pump when you are running slow and will let the pump run cooler and last longer. Circulated fuel also stays cooler.

Yes I do need to get some self locking ones I have lock washers on the bolts now and nuts would be extra insurance, and were would I run the return line to? I have 2 vent lines so I would guess one of those?
 
Heck I grew up in the 60's and 70's and if we could not hear the fuel pump then we got worried. Thats just how I am as I hit the key and as long as I hear the pump I know I am good to go. I actually only have the red Holley pump on my 63 right now which has internal regulation and uses no external regulator. Everyone told me it wont supply my 493 but it ran 10.70's at almost 125 with it ! But I plan to upgrade to a bigger pump this winter. Ron
 
I started out with a Holley blue pump, expecting noise; I isolated the crap out of it, the regulator, and the interconnecting line. The noise was still intolerable. Changed it out for a Gearator 125, much quieter pump. Doing it again I would install a return line, has developed a slight howl after running for several hours, and after 5k miles or so.
