Eleven years ago tomorrow

It's a sad commentary when I have to say that Dec. 7th has been pushed to the back burner and forgotten about for this newer diaster. Can we please let sleeping dogs lie!

Can you clarify this post?
Just what do you mean?

Are you suggesting "WE" forget 9/11 or Pearl Harbor?

I will never forget where I was on 9/11. We were on a short vacation in Victoria, B.C. Everyone was shocked by the images we were seeing on tv. Of course all airline flights were grounded and the border crossings were shut down. We were to head back home the next day but it took two extra days to get back into the U.S. The last day was spent in a U.S Customs holding area while we were checked out and searched.
One thing I will not forget is how we were helped by our neighbors to the north. The hotel that we stayed at told us to stay as long as we needed and they didn't even charge us for the extra day. Several people expressed their concern and asked us if we were ok or needed anything. When the chips are down, Canadians are truly our friends and will help us any way they can. THANK YOU!
Smitty

I'll never forget or get that burn out from down deep from 9/11.....I do remember September 12th very well too......Loading up our jets to go blow them up on their own soil!!!!!!! Nothing like the Ka-Boom of a 1000LB GBU's as they redecorate the Afghan countryside. I think the gates of heaven were probably closed those first several days it that rat hole.

R.I.P NYFD NYPD and the people of the WTC and anyone else who lost their lives at this horrific terrorist attack. We will never forget.

lets get this clear no one will ever forget any of these days, now do we have that cleared up,:headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:

yeah where I work they forgot!they only think of numbers , you`d think they could of lowered the flags?I miss were I worked when 9/11 happened but the economy did that in.God Bless All!

Did I ever say we should forget about it? NO! The news tonight will have story after story about this day and who did what and who was where, etc, etc. I'm sure at least 10 minutes will be devoted to it, if not more. While come 12/7 they will have a 30 second snipit and show a wreath being placed on the Arizona and that's it. I've seen it for the past 10 years now, and tonight will be no different. That's what I mean by pushed to the back burner. I know exactly what today is and I don't need it crammed down my throat everywhere I turn this time of year is all.
Tragic as 11 September was, so far there has been no terrorist follow up. In the 20 days following Pearl Harbor:

Dec 7, 1941 - Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Also attack the Philippines, Wake Island, Guam, Malaya, Thailand, Shanghai and Midway.
Dec 8, 1941 - U.S. and Britain declare war on Japan. Japanese land near Singapore and enter Thailand.
Dec 9, 1941 - China declares war on Japan.
Dec 10, 1941 - Japanese invade the Philippines and also seize Guam.
Dec 11, 1941 - Japanese invade Burma.
Dec 15, 1941 - First Japanese merchant ship sunk by a U.S. submarine.
Dec 16, 1941 - Japanese invade British Borneo.
Dec 18, 1941 - Japanese invade Hong Kong.
Dec 22, 1941 - Japanese invade Luzon in the Philippines.
Dec 23, 1941 - Gen. MacArthur begins withdrawal from Manila to Bataan; Japanese take Wake Island.
Dec 25, 1941 - British surrender at Hong Kong.
Dec 26, 1941 - Manila declared an open city.
Dec 27, 1941 - Japanese bomb Manila.

Wathcing the footage after I got home from work that day was just heartwrenching. Seeing all those people hanging out the windows and then there was the jumpers. I just can't imagine being in the position where you know that you're going to burn to death or die from the smoke, so you jump to your death. So very, very sad.

No disrespect

It's a sad commentary when I have to say that Dec. 7th has been pushed to the back burner and forgotten about for this newer diaster. Can we please let sleeping dogs lie!

This is our generations, Pearl Harbor type event, Dec. 7th 1941 "a day that will live in infomy"....... we aren't forgetting Pearl Harbor, we are just remembering 9-11-2001, we can, will & should honor both...

R.I.P NYFD NYPD and the people of the WTC and anyone else who lost their lives at this horrific terrorist attack. We will never forget.

Flight 93 & The Pentagon too

I live 15 miles out of Manhatten and could see the smoke rising,Watched the 2nd hit live.EVERYTHING changed after this.
Here are some pictures of NYC taken from the cab of my truck from Brooklyn looking across the East river while driving in stop & go traffic.I'm in & out of NYC several times a week.
Watching the FREEDOM tower rise from the ashes of the twin towers makes me proud to be a NY'r.It is now the tallest building in NYC.

We shall NEVER FORGET:angel11:

There is no way we can forget 911... and i don't think anyone is forgetting Pearl harbor. I very much think on the anniversary of the tragedy at Pearl it to was brought up each year over and over.. Its something that generation of folks lived in as this is one we did. Its only right and fitting for what it did to this country and to innocence civilian people going about there lives.. they hit a major city in our country, our military was involved because of some maniacs idea of destroying us. it will never happen. Pearl was terrible and we responded as we always will.. America will not bend.

9-11-2001 & 12-7-1941

I don't disagree with your wanting to remember the beginning of WWII, for the U.S.of A., It had been going on since 1936 actually, in other parts of the World, before the U.S. got dragged into it & then 12/7/1941 Pearl Harbor Attack even more, we became a victim & drawn into the War, but that was a World War, that was a Military installation & Naval Base, I don't believe Hawaii was a state yet, not that that makes it lessor value or importance, but this attack is on the American Mainland Soul, the biggest city in the U.S.of A. & Iconic World Trade Center Structures, a symble of free trade, freedom & free republic/democracy, The Pentagon our Military headquarters, Flight 93, the 2 flights that crashed into the Twin Towers & not mostly all soldiers, like Pearl Harbor, as bad as that sounds, but whom are expected to be in harms way & should be better prepared for War or an Act of War & can defend themselves, much better than every day innocent U.S. & foriegn citizens & saftey personnel in N.Y.C. can be prepared... Pearl Harbor 12/7/1941 as bad as that day is & it was horrific... 9-11-2001 we lost, City, County, State, Fireman, Police, Port Authority Officers, Citizens of many different country's & the U.S., Pentagon Employees & Military Service men & women, civilian Flight Pilots & crews, volunteers, innocent passengers & many People, are still dying from effects, from the attack & it's still very fresh, in many peoples memories, probably haunts many people & families, to this day, heroic 1st responders, running into harms way, to save others, with no regaurds for their own safety.... We can honor both, be respectful of both, we are a compassionate people/country

I WAS MEANING TO BRING THIS UP. ..i have a story for you all. certainly a day i will never forget

sept 11, 2001 i was working at the job site about 8 miles from my house. we were using a huge crane to set gang forms for a foundation for the
Vilar center, a part of W& J college. with a 16 x 16 foot panel swinging in the air, the crane operator shuts the crane off and informs the carpenters that a jet airliner had just hit one of the towers in NYC . it was an absolutely GORGEOUS day just like it is today,,,,and my first thought was...." JFK airport is a good ways away from the city.. i wonder what happened to the plane"

45 minutes later , the crane operator does the very same thing for the 2nd time..." ANOTHER PLANE JUST HIT THE OTHER TOWER IN NEW YORK CITY ". he was being called on his cell phone by his wife telling him this information. with the crane shut down for the 2nd time, we all started looking strangely at each other....asking the oddest questions. we continued working.

a pertinent part of this story that i need to tell you is that I am an AIRCRAFT FREEK. i know my planes,,,commercial and military. i grew up around planes and have loved them all my life and made it a point to know all the makes and models of ANYTHING that flies.

as we continued working i noticed a rather low flying 757 fly directly over the jobsite ad around 10- 12 thousand feet. it was flying quite erratically . noticing planes the way i do this struck me as extremely odd because i have been at that job site for about 6 months and never seen a commercial jet in that area. 5 minutes later i see 2 F-16's following the very same flight path as the 757 at an EXTREMELY high rate of speed. once again this struck me as odd. we turned on the radio and heard that terrorists have flown planes into the twin towers and the Pentagon.

when i heard that a 757 Boeing went down in Somerset Pa on the radio...my inquisitive mind started putting things together.....FLIGHT 93 WAS SHOT DOWN !!!!

for years they made the passengers out to be heroes because the government wanted to cover up something that i had already figured out myself. "LETS ROLL" was the catch phrase that they had concocted.

just last night as i was watching new shows about that fateful day...a black Brigadier General ( cant think of his name) admitted this....." WE HAD CLEARANCE TO SHOOT DOWN FLIGHT 93"

I KNEW THE WHOLE TIME THAT PLANE WAS SHOT DOWN....... i saw the 757 at low altitude....then i saw 2 F-16's chasing it....2+2 =4 where i come from. the crash site of flight 93 is about 60 miles from where i was at the time......and it dont take a jet very long to travel 60 miles at 600 MPH....as a matter of fact,,,,,,IT TAKES 6 MINUTES .

THOUGHT YOU GUYS MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN MY STORY....ITS SAD,,,,,BUT TRUE! remember the fallen

My brother works in New Stanton for a company that modifies helicopters for the police, hospitals and some special ops teams. His office manager received a call about an hour after 93 went down from her son. He was crying and she asked what was wrong, he said, "we shot it down", he is a pilot and was involved with the shoot down.

Another woman while hanging clothes out to dry reported seeing flames coming from the plane before it hit the ground.

Parts of the plane were found 6 miles from the crash site in tree tops.

The government purchased 2000 acres for the memorial and made it off limits prior to its opening.

watch this....its lengthy ....but her it is....watch the guy at the end of the clip and listen to what he says about the flickering lights and radar jamming ! seen it all clear as day ! ....i wish i hadnt !

i was at that crash site.....its eerie...and strange, knowing what happened there. i was there about 3 years after the crash....when the memorial was all from the people and the general public. all hand made tombstones...... now its a tourist attraction with marble plaques and statues..... i spoke with a man there that owns a junk yard and he witnessed that plane impact with the ground. he said it rolled over on its back and plowed right into the ground at 600 MPH. an engine was found 6 miles from the point of impact......engines dont just fall off of jets.....they are shot off !
