I have a 1969 Roadrunner convertible that has been converted to four wheel disc brakes. When I press the emergency brake pedal it engages fine but when I pull the release lever I have to manually pull up on the emergency brake pedal to bring it back all the way to the correct position. Is there supposed to be some type of return spring to help the emergency brake pedal return all the way back up? If yes would anybody know where to get one or what a part number might be?

Spring is / was in the cable at the wheel end... + the shoe springs. No idea how it works with discs...

That makes sense and is very interesting. I will have to look st my rear brakes now. I have no idea if there is a spring there or not. That was extremely helpful, thank you.

My springs are in, and it still doesn't return. Most likely the cables at a minimum need flushing with lube in my case, the pedal could probably use some too.

Pretty sure there is a spring on the emergency brake release handle itself. There is a plastic retaining clip of sorts that breaks and causes the spring to loose its tension and it won’t return the handle properly when released.

You can see the one has a zip tie repair.

Never mind, I see you said pedal, not handle.

Here in mich it's rare that you find a old car with them working at all due to crap getting in the cables.. on mine i had to take the rear part of the cables off.. sprayed them full of brake parts cleaner to get them working again then i think i just hit them with silicone spray (don't recall) but they pop right back up now.
