1974 727B where tailshaft housing bolts onto tranny, there is an empty threaded hole, almost looks like a barrel washer that moves in and out. What is it for?(see pics) 787BC5E8-76B0-4491-8624-34C58DA114BD.jpeg

That is the pin for the rear servo. It has 2 O-rings to prevent leaks, and is retained by the tailshaft housing...

Any pics on how it’s supposed to look? Trans seems to work ok just chasing some leaks- thanks

That is the way it looks, exposed to air.

What ? What? Ohhhh. Sorry. By the title of the thread, I thought you were looking in my ear.

Thanks guys thought I had an issue.Getting her ready to cruise on boardwalk at OC next weekend

If that pin leaks it can be sealed. Press it in as until it bottoms. Clean with brakleen. Use a putty knife to fill the cavity with a good quality RTV.

I chased that leak for years not realizing what I know now

How many different style pan gaskets got replaced numerous times

Even a new pan

Fix it the right way

My o rings literally where rock hard when I removed that shaft - A little work , valve body , tail shaft housing

Anyways

Really appreciate a simple cork pan gasket and zero rtv when all the leaks above are fixed right
