ok guys, i got everything except the voltage regulator...would it be ok to run it for a quick couple seconds on just battery power..? the alternator will be disconnected...

i just want to verify that the engine is good...

issues.....:(

the coil ballast resistor is getting hot...I have a little over 4 volts at the coil...about 44 volts at the distributor harness:eek:..When i unplug the ignition module, the volts at the coil go to normal(about 12 volts).....

edit; i also have no spark...

edit2: it will not try to start with the key...i am having to cross the terminals at the starter relay...

anyone..?

also, i am trying get it to fire/run without the voltage regulator....don't know if that could be the issue...

forgive me folks, i'm not familiar with mopar systems..

you need the whole package or you will burn out either the control unit, alt or coil. Get every thing NEW, while waiting check all the wires in the harness with the diagrams to make sure the right color is in the right location it takes time but is worth it. USE THE DIAGRAMS!

Do not try to short cut just to get the motor started it's not worth it trust me.

yeah, i guess i should just go pick up a regulator....i will remove the ignition module to have it tested at the parts store while i'm there, just to make sure it isn't toast...

well folks, it seems i have a bad pick up coil in the dizzy...it tested at 280 ohms....I'm just gonna replace the whole distributor...it's kinda rusty inside...

welp....it was a bad ignition module...:D

the old module....tested bad of course lol...
