i traded on a 63 sport fury that has a 426 wedge stage 3 engine that is suppose to be a fresh rebuild and sounds great and i wanted to see if its truly a stage 3 max wedge the numbers stamped on the top front of block near the intake are 426 vmp and under those numbers 11 6 06....and also looking for the carb sinkronizer tool..

my engine is a 64..i know it isnt original to my car ..is my engine a stage 3 from 1964?

The info I found says 64 max block could be 2406730 or 2532230 casting, latter more likely. Do you have iron max heads? 64 stage three should be 2406518 with six bolt valve covers, 62 413 max and 63 426 max have four bolt covers..
11-6-06 looks like somebody stamped date of rebuild on the pad. Do you have a picture of the pad?

Stage 3 intake casting, 2402720, 62 413 is2402726, 63 is 2702728.
All info from moparts on the web, main index.

Stage 3 heads sitting on a 68 440 block, even with a stage 3 intake, wouldn't make it a stage 3. The block is the thing. Check your block casting number, passenger side , rear half of the block. One of the two numbers above, you have a max.

So the heads don't matter ? If it has a "Stage III" block, the heads don't matter ? I thought it takes a block and heads to make an engine.

It does, you're right. My point was that just a set of heads doesn't make it a "Stage 3". To me, it should have at least block, heads, and intake. Carbs and ignition get replaced, don't matter that much to me, a purist or restorer HAS to have them right. I've seen early max carbs, asking $1600. Definitely not mine.

the valve covers are 6 bolt ..the intake casting numbers are 2402726-1 ..the numbers off the side of the block are 2406730 i am trying to get a good pic of the numbers on top of the block it has alot of paint on it..
