Looking for an engine hoist to pull my 318 motor with the trans attached. Anyone out there have one I could rent or borrow for a day? I live in the Chicago area so let me know if you can help out. The engine is ready to come out so it shouldn't be more than a couple hours. Willing to pay for some help pulling it as well. Thanks

do you have any of the tool rental companys in your area they rent by hour ,day, week, just a thought another possibility check with a few car clubs.

I'd consider buying one if I were you. They are so cheap these days, you could use it for as long as you need, sell it when you're done for half of what you paid for it and probably still be even in regards to a day or two of rental.

Harbor Frieght 1ton fold up $179.00

Going CL price for one down here is between $75 and $150. even some fold-ups, and some that come with the leveler bar.
If I had a floor in my shop, I'd be all over one.

was looking thru my hotrod issue and there is a coupon for the 1 ton foldable for $119.99 that is $80.00 savings regular price $199.99 valid thru 6/14/2012. Have you checked on your local craigslit?:glasses7:

If you do decide to buy one, absoultely get the foldable legs. You'll find fixed leg units cheaper (used anyway) but man, do they take up some room.

X2. Plus you will find other uses for it. I used mine to load my 5' pull behind mower into a trailer.

2-ton Import, folding legs, on CL for $125. I can sell it for the same, or more. Get up early on the weekend and check.

I bought one with the fold up legs and it really has been a convenience. It stores without taking up much space. I bought it specifically to lift heavy items around the shop, not just engines. Worth every penny.
