Engine Swap and Transmission

I have a 69 340 that I'm planning to use to replace the 318 in my 70 Charger. Will I be able to use the OEM flex plate/torque converter/904 transmission, or will I need to change parts? Should I consider changing to a 727? Specifically concerned about balance issues. Thanks for any/all assistance!

I think that one would be an even swap.
Easy one to do.

No issue. Just make sure the kick down linkage fits the 4 barrel carb.

I did the same thing in my 68 Coronet - swapped the 318 for a 340. Everything fits fine. I kept the 904 because (a) I wouldn't need to buy and possibly rebuild a 727.. (b) the 904 is lighter.. (c) I only added about 40hp in my 340 rebuild so the power to the tranny wouldn't be an issue.

Like Doug said, I did have to put the correct linkage on.
