Estate Planning & Vehicles Question

Hellcat goes to a friend. He only has to outlive me. Named in will. VIN etc. Location. Includes shipping. Already told him it’s ok to sell it to pay off the house. Kids are on their own. I highly recommend spending down their inheritance.

I spoke with my son who is not into old cars and have instructed him to contact a reputable auction house and sell them. The proceeds to go to my grandchildren. It's in my will.
Perhaps there's someone you trust who is willing to do the same then donate the money to your favorite charity.
I'd be more than willing to honor the wishes of several folks who know me pretty well on here in such a request -
and I'd imagine it could be written up by the lawyer to even "keep me honest" in doing so once they've passed, too.
Problem is....I don't reckon the ones I'm thinking of will go before me. :)
Oh well, I mean well right?

Yeah, when my brother passed it took me a month to go thru everything he had. Sold off as much as I could and then set up a auction.
Told my other brother not to leave me anything. I think he has plans to will everything to his church.

New caddilac for the pastor coming up

do an internet search, on a search engine you trust
for 'How to set up a living trust'

it will help streamline everything after you're gone
some you can do yourself some you need a lawyer
depending on the complexity of the assets

a 'basic will & testament can be contested
& bogged down in probate

good luck

Leave it to anybody except your greedy state.
Worth the money to do a will just to screw the state out of any extra.
I live in one of the 7 worst states to die in. I will own nothing before I die.

As stated in earlier posts we in Maryland have "title on death". You assign it to someone before you die and when you do it automatically goes to that person.
Cost 20$ a title
We have done this to all of ours.
And get a will and medical will

A few months ago a gentleman from my hometown passed away. He was a big mopar hoarder, his brother the only remaining family went to court and fought the state for the assets as there was no will. He won and then promptly went in the hospital and died. The state has it again and has started the process of scrapping all the cars he has that aren't running. There are 4 containers of engines transmissions and assorted parts all for 2nd gen chargers.

I’m 46 I guess I really need to think of this a little more seriously ... I always avoid the conversation because I don’t know the proper way to make sure my kids get my cars , can you make it to where they can’t sell them except to each other if in a bind?

I have been TODing, transfer on death, every vehicle I have ever owned, except my daily drivers. If you sell it, no harm, no foul.
I also put all my kids cars in their name at sixteen in the event of a car accident, in this sue crazy world, they couldn't come for me.

I'm being buried in mine! :p
I've been asked for so many years now before various surgeries and such "do you have a Living Will?"
My answer is always the same: "Don't need one".
They typically start trying to tell me why I do need one, only to have me stop them in their tracks and
say:
"You already know I'm one of those type patients, right? Then we both already know you aren't
gonna let me die in there, right?"
(I got a rep to protect, after all - real life history of coming back from the dead, multiple times now. :) )
They get a weird look on their face usually at that point....so I continue to explain:
I tell them to imagine all the spooky movies they've ever seen, the ones where the dead come back to life....
Then I tell them to imagine them again, except this time the movies are all real - and I'm the star in them.

They get the hint.

(Yeah, I'm a morbid mothertrucker. You expected otherwise?)

You can’t make it binding here.

Will = 9 months min, lawyers, fees, court, contested, time, effort, etc.

Trust or similar = assets transfer at time of death, in the case of a trust, assets can he distributed/liquidated by trustee(s) anytime after with an official copy of trust and id.

Easy. My dad died without one. No weird contest, or orphans popping up. We (my sister and I) did the whole probate thing. We kept lawyers out because we were sure of no contest and how it is split. Saved the bucks on lawyers, which the state took in inheritance tax.
A trust is the way to go.
