Ever cross thread an oil filter

I will say I feel quality is lacking with WIX lately. I change a lot of filters on a monthly service for our locomotives, I’m seeing a lot of messed up filters in the past six months, packaging on our large air filters used to include a two large pieces of foam on each end to protect the filter now your lucky if the is one and the filter isn’t partially crushed. As far as the damaged threads go I had a Motorcraft filter bite me once, started by hand and then tightened by hand on a 02 escort Zx2 , it wouldn’t seat the gasket and I couldn’t see it as it was done by feel and guess what.. yep made a mess. Swapped a filter and cleaned it up after topping it off.. I was not happy. No harm no foul and off it went.
Been using the SRT filter on the 6.2 and 6.4 Modern cars. Replaces the 899’s and has a larger diameter. Reported to be made by WIX. They come with a protective sleeve on the business end. I just check for shipping dents. So far so good.

I didn’t crucify WIX in this thread , but looks like I wasn’t the only one , maybe I should
Quality control is at an all time low across this country

Bought a filter for a 350 Cummins one time and it wouldn’t start threading period! Parts man reluctantly gave me another one and no problem. Had to have been defective.
We’ll that’ll teach you to TELL US. I’m here to learn.

My last response wasn't to you, it was to the poster blaming the company that makes the best filters available on the market.
I am sure that it was defective, it happens.
That would have saved you the big mess that you had to clean up.

It wasn't that the old gasket was still on it, was it? A double gasket will empty the engine in a hurry. I've never had a cross threaded filter, either - although I've tried.
I did that once decades ago. Good thing I changed the oil out in the street. What a mess!

My point? Wix does not make oil filters.
On my 318 I usually use either Super Tech or Purolator both made by Mann + Hummel.
I’m on the phone with the EPA.

I see your 392 and raise you one Hellcat.
The oil filter on my porsche is installed threads down ! So much for german engineering ! A mess each and every time, oil all over the front cross member.
