F/N MICE......69 Sport Satellite SW

Shawn Woods tested several items using a box out in his bard and filming at night. He states that dryer sheets don't work along with other things. Watch how these mice are not even bothered by moth balls.

Now he tries the mint by Victor

Them bastards used the dryer sheets in my camper to build their nest out of.

Looks like I need some mint in my Sebring that's parked outside. Opened the hood today and....

Hey @FU64RY keep your critters at home!

I just took my car out after a few years in storage while I was finishing grad school out of state. Tons of mice around the garage but none in the car. I used the bounce sheets, I think I saw that on FBBO or moparts. Something with the fragrance used for these specific sheets must be the key, or I just got lucky.

The downside is that I can't get the bounce smell out of my car so now it's repelling me!

Thanks Kid, those were the videos I mentioned and the fact Victor doesn't make them anymore. Just as a heads up. Those oil drops can and will remove varnish, stain and maybe even paint from whatever they drip on. I know this from experience trying to keep spiders out of my house. The baby spiders are so small when born they can come right through a screen. I put cotton balls with a few drops of peppermint oil between the inner and outer windows. It did stop the spider invasion but stained the surface they sat on. In fact I think it mentions that right on the bottle. I assume that any concentrated oil like that could do the same.

These are some great tips and information - thanks all for posting them up.

Mice are destructive little bastards. I hate them and the damage they do to cars, so anything I can do to help keep them at bay is a good thing. Perhaps putting some mint oil on strip of cedar wood will be a good method!?!

Keep the grass cut down any where you don't want mice. That helps slow the invasion. They are destructive little bastards I keep poison at each corner of the roll up doors and a couple of sticky traps with peanut butter on them.
Doing these things haven't had any in a couple of years. You must remain vigilant.

Only problem with the peppermint oil.
I tried it took a while to even find it for sale anywhere..
spread it all around and in several cars only to find the next day it was all but non existent. locked it in a trunk and opened it this morning and could not smell a thing. So much for that remedy.

I use the essential oil, full strength, a dozen drops in cotton in a open plastic container. Don't want to get it on the upholstery or carpet. Don't buy the cooking extract!

Mix it with water in a spray bottle to use around the shop, around the car and in the house to rid spiders. Spray outside around your seating area to ward off mosquitoes.

It will lose it's aroma when used as a spray but it keeps on working for several months. Used concentrated it will still smell for months.

That's exactly what I bought at Walmart............did not last 24 hours.

It's what's in my car now. It's been in there for two months. You're welcome to come over and take a wiff! Almost as strong as when I first placed it in there.

Morning John
If you were a hot babe I would be right over to take a wiff..............LOL
I must have gotten an open bottle, I did notice that it was not sealed when I opened the cap.
I'll bet somebody bought it and used what they wanted and put water back in and returned it.
Do you remember if yours was sealed?

Bought my car in May 2008, at my first house was in one of those tarp carports for 3 years, new house has a garage.
I have rarely used sticky traps, and they usually drag the traps away, chew the traps or pull their hair out getting loose.

That piece of cedar has been in the car since 2008 or 2009. I take it out every spring when I clean it up. For whatever reason, I'm allergic to cedar. Found out when I put cedar shakes on my first house, that's why I remove it each spring.

I went through the same routine this spring, cleaning it out. Drove it last on June 11th for a parade graduation. Both visors down for a large part of the slow ride. The door opener is also on the passenger visor, and the kid always pulls the visor down to open the door, no reason to, always does.

Due to an issue the car has been sitting since. I went to grab the garage door opener off the visor on July 14th and found this.

I'm an idiot, original perfect headliner. Big and small sections fell on the seat, but I couldn't put humpty back together again.

I tried everything else that first year, so it's fair to state the cedar worked for 10+ years in both a carport and garage.

Sad ................ All of my cars are always stored with the visors down and at an angle away from the front glass, that area has always been a perfect mouse haven, they just sit there on the visor and chew away, did you find the nest? There will be one some where in the car; guaranteed, probably farther back in the head liner.
I feel your pain.

Apparently not in the Sebring.......LOL

Nope, not outside! I think I caught that mouse about a month ago. I went outside after dark and saw one at my garden hose hanging on the wall. Went back in the house, baited a trap and set it out there. Before going to bed I checked on it and the trap was gone! The next day I went looking for it and found the trap on the other side of my truck. It had been tripped and had hair and blood on it. I'm thinking the local stray cat that makes it's rounds found it and had a free meal. I haven't seen the mouse or anymore material in the engine bay in the Sebring.
