I have a non AC 69 RR and I’m trying to decide whether to keep the original heater box and go with an after market AC system or install an original AC / heat box. A little background info, it’s not numbers matching and I’m converting to a four speed. I have all the AC factory components for the most part, compressor, AC / heat box, controls, lines, etc. I realize I’ll have to rework the fire wall for the factory AC / heat box but I have a few questions that I’m hoping the Mopar B body brain trust can answer:
- Will the compressor inhibit the install of an Air Grabber intake or can the base be trimmed to accommodate? (I’ve seen that comment made on the forum)
- Is there anyone that has a template to locate the new holes for the blower motor and coolant / heat lines for the for the firewall modification? If not I plan on making one off the AC / heat box’s I have.
- As far as cooling performance goes and dash appearance (no knee knockers) what’s the general consensus? (I understand the weight increase with the factory install).
My contemporaries think I’m nuttier than a fruit cake, but it is that time of year!
