im in need of some advice, im restoring a 67 GTX and i would like to replace the factory assembly paint markings on the rear and suspension. My question is what kind of paint do you guys use, oil, arcrylic or what, i bought some testors paint because i read that it was good but it seems like colored water with no coverage. My daughter has tubes of oil paint from an art kit , i was thinking about trying that, any thoughts? thanks Rich

That art kit sounds like an excellent idea. The original paint markings lasted 40-50 years and were from a durable product and I would assume something similar to what is in the art kit.

My understanding is that existing paint was used. Why pay for special paint when they had a paint shop in house that would be disposed of. Most Inspectors paint colors that I have seen match up to the color charts.

When I did my cars, I used Valpar Enamel from Tractor Supply and mixed it myself. Inexpensive!
White, Black, Light Blue (White & Blue), Yellow, etc.

Also, it is very random. I would hold a piece of cardboard next to what I was marking and make multiple marks and then do a swipe on the part like an Inspector would have.
