factory sound deadener

Are you talking internal products or external, like undercoating?

Since I decided not to put back the undercoating on my car, I used a couple of things. First, I used dynamat on the interior floor and interior rear wheel wells, the car originally had a tar paper on the floor, and the repops are not very good. Second, I used stock shoddy pad and insulation on the firewall and kick panels plus was able to find the stock tar paper product for the sail panel area.

Third, and maybe to help answer your question, I used a product from Evercoat, rubberized undercoating/sound deadener to spray on the inside of the outer door skins and interior parts of the rear quarter panel skins, and seems to work very well.

Hope that helps, and also some others have used various products here so I am sure you will get more feedback.

I like the undercoating put out by Resto Rick.

The material does matter, but I would argue technique matters as much, if not more. The schutz gun you use, speed, distance from surface, air pressure and time between coats all affect how it will lay out.

Not the best shot, but here is Ricks stuff inside of the trunk on my (forever) ongoing restoration.

So, I just bought a gallon of Rick's undercoat for inside my 68 GTX quarters. What kind of tips can yo give me
on how to apply it so it looks "Factory"? I've read Rick's instructions already, but you've done this before
so I'm all ears! Thanks!

Resto Rick and he will even recommend the gun you will need. It was the scariest thing I did to the car and the easiest after I did it.

Well, I just painted the inside of the trunk and all I can say is I'm glad it's still on the rotisserie!
Holy Crap! Anyone get the plate number of the bus that ran me over??? I'm so sore from being contorted
and bent in ways I haven't been in a long time! That's the hardest part of the car I ever had to work on.
Too many nooks and cranny's. Now I have the inside of the quarters masked off and ready to spray on the
undercoating. I fired off an e-mail to rick and asked him if I could run the booth through a bake cycle after
application, and he gave me the green light so here we go! See you on the other side!
