I just noticed that my hood has nuts available for 3 out of 4 attachment points.

Obviously I can try to weld a nut or something to make it accept a bolt.......my question is what did they use from the factory and how did it get in there....... is this something that i can replace with a certain styled nut....

You can see the missing open hole in the pic....

thanks,

Had a stripped nut on my 64, so I cut a rectangle around the missing nut then welded in another one, then welded it back together. That was the only way I could think of and it would just perfect.

To answer your question about how it got in there; the factory welded the nut to the hood structure before the hood skin was attached. 5.7's idea is a good one. If you don't weld, take the hood to any body shop or welding shop and have them do it.

thanks for the info.... I was thinking about doing that kind of procedure but noticed its looks to be braced underneath the hole in the picture. I did not want to cut too deep so i will just try to get through the first layer only and go from there.

As I remember it, the nut has a reinforcing plate that spans the hole. Good luck. Post pics when you do it. I'm sure others will appreciate it.
