I like a quick revving motor with a light rotating mass.
I like this as well (along with high rpm).

I'm a firm believer in the quench being as close as possible and seen pistons before that were close enough to the head that the .030 figure was transfered to the combustion chamber of the head. The pistons weren't touching but the imprint in the piston created just enough turbulence on the head just enough to be able to read it. This engine was in a dirt track car that ran pretty dang good. The quench side of the heads were fairly clean of carbon but they had enough color to be able to read the the backwards .030 on the surface. When you are aiming to get it close there is really no way to know what the quench figure should be until you after you've run the engine and lift one head or look inside with a borescope. The quench wants to be as close as you can get it without the piston hitting the head. Head gasket thickness and RPM is a factor as well as piston design, rod design and piston to bore clearance.
I would bet it's quicker than that. My son had 65 Belvedere II. Stock bench seat street car. Motorhome short block, 484 purple cam. Eddy out of the box rpm heads, Eddy rpm intake, Eddy 600. Running the large factory low perf 12" converter. 3.91 gear, 255/60 BFG Radial T/A (not drag radials). best of 12.88@110. The large converter with to much cam for the 8-1 (maybe less) compression allowed for zero wheel spin with street tires.Well the motor is done. Health problems and kids needing help scaled it back. Finished product ended up as a nice driver. 30 over 440, 2355 flat tops .017 below deck. Balanced with cast crank, stock rods with aftermarket bolts. Isky 292 mega cam and lifters, 242@050, .500 lift 108LC on a 104 ICL. CNC ported Stealth heads, 80cc, 280 CFM at .500 lift upgraded springs, retainers, 10 degree keepers. .039 felpro gasket. RPM intake with Holley 750 double pumper. Full MSD dist, wires, 6AI box. And Doug’s 452 coated long tubes. Not what I wanted but it’s what I could afford. I havent dynoed it yet but it won’t hook up at anywhere near half throttle even with the Caltrac springs and bars. 275/60/15 tires. It feels faster than my SRT8 that made 428 rwhp. Of course it’s way lighter. I’m guessing it’s a low 13 to high 12 car with a set of radial 275 slicks.
Yeah I think I’m spac‘ed out at about 10.2 to 1. It revs like a small block. No flat spots. I’m picking up a tach and will then know what I have for gears. I love this forum. Hardly any egos. Everyone shares knowledge.I would bet it's quicker than that. My son had 65 Belvedere II. Stock bench seat street car. Motorhome short block, 484 purple cam.
