Ok, we have a OEM 1970 front sway bar to put up here with aftermarket bushings and clamps, shipping included in conus

Some of the overlap members will remember back in the day on FABO, we would have Benefit Auctions for members who fell on hard times. People would toss up leftovers, unneeded stuff from their stash, and whatever other donations to the thread and forum members would openly bid on the items they wanted.

It would be open to bids for a set period of time (usually a week or two depending on the urgency of the need). One person would oversee the thread and provide occasional updates on items donated, the current winning bidder and the high bid until its conclusion so you wouldn't need to read dozens of comments to catch up on item(s) you're interested in.

Cash donations were also made separately directly to the beneficiary's Paypal account in many cases.

When the auction ended, all the winning bid amounts were paid to the Benefit Auction's beneficiary instead of to the donator of the part. Donators would then ship their items to the winning bidder; most often shipping was NOT included in the donation so it was up to the parties to work that out between them at auction's end.

Quite a few of these Benefit Auctions happened over the years, but one guy sadly took advantage of the forum's generosity time and again and they stopped after that. Many were VERY lucrative ... hell, we even all pitched in and bought MeMike a CAR.

* * *

I would like to start a Benefit Auction here on FBBO for @moparedtn who is trying to stay positive on his birthday yesterday but could use more than funny memes and well wishes. He keeps telling me there are others who are "more deserving" but I don't know who they are. Faced with the prospect of having to sell his beloved ride to stay afloat and put groceries on the table, none of us would ever want to be in that position.

Being a first time effort on this board, I hope it will be successful simply because we all love him and there's a lot of Old FABO Member Overlap here who will remember all the good we used to do for our members in need. I believe we can all work together and get our friend Ed some help.

I will start this off with my donation of a $150 Gift Certificate from Phoenix Specialty Coatings with the suggestion it runs until midnight Central U.S. time on August 27.

I will add Ed's paypal address to this as soon as I have it if anyone is inclined to throw a few bucks at him without waiting for the auction to end.

Who wants to bid or add something to the item list? Let's make this work FBBO!!

1. $150 Gift Certificate from Phoenix Specialty Coatings donated by CudaChick1968 ..... High bid $_______.
What a nice and thoughtful idea this whole thing is Leanna. Just wanted to say thank you, and that people like you are what makes this site the best one out there. :drinks:

I will add a power steering box to the list for auction. Removed from my 68 Charger. Small 1 1/8” sector shaft. Firm Feel stage 3 rebuild done less than 500 miles ago. Great unit, I just decided to try the Borgeson.

I will cover shipping to the lower 48.
Will this fit a 67 GTX?

I'm mostly a slant guy and an A-body guy but I get over here once in a while to poke around - which means I'm not V-8 savvy and can't help with details on my donation. I have a dual-snorkel air cleaner that I couldn't hope to tell you what it came from. It is currently in reasonably good driver condition. With some elbow grease and paint, it could be a very nice driver quality cleaner. It has lots of vacuum tubes on the bottom side to work the doors on the floor of the snorkels, and yes the doors open OK. There is one spot on the heat riser tube that needs to be straightened out, and the lower half has about a 2" area at the lip where it had some rust, or maybe it got some welding/brazing repair? It's minor and would clean up pretty easily. I have no idea why the lid is black, except it came with my Dart which got rattle-can spray-bombed flat black on the entire trunk and engine compartment. The inside lip of the lid will need cleaned and rust protected but it looks solid. The lid has one minor flat spot that would respond well to a little massage to straighten it out.

I have no idea what this is worth, so let's start the bidding at $75 and let the market decide the price. I will split shipping to the lower 48 with the winner.

@Mike67 gave me explicit instructions to take his gift and go take my wife to a belated birthday dinner.
I'm good at following instructions, so I asked her what she wanted....
Don't you know, she got me blubbery all over again! Dangit!
She said to get the GTX out and we'll go for a ride and figure it out.

See, I haven't had Fred the GTX out in quite a while because.....well, reasons.
Y'all can imagine why, I reckon.
So ok, we get the car out and give her a little gas, then set off to who knows where and wind up
in a nice park in a neighboring town.
I made her pose. :)

(She hates posing) *snicker*

We then tried a "selfie" but well, we're both aged and don't do selfies, so instead this came out of my phone:

Apologies in advance. Told ya we don't do selfies...

Oh, her choice for dinner? Takeout chicken.
Yup. That's what she wanted.
I reckon she's a blessing, too.
We ate off Mike's money like royalty.

I love all of ya and I'm so thankful for what you're doing here -
and I promise, no more selfies. :)

You made my day Ed, you do deserve it! Glad to see you two enjoying each other's company and taking a moment to enjoy the little things. Those memories are priceless!
There are so many awesome, wonderfully generous people here it restores the soul seeing it.
I give Leanne all the props....& a sincere thanks to everyone that has contributed, in donations, bids, gifts or kind uplifting words to Ed...it restores my faith as brothers/sisters and Americans that with all of our differences we still care about each other's well being! Way to go FBBO!

I think it should but I'd prefer you check with someone more knowledgable rather than take my word for it. I'm sure the folks at Firm Feel would know, or maybe we can start a thread in the appropriate section here?
