I am doing some repair on the fenders of my 68 Coronet 500 and need some help. I created a patch panel for the driver fender matching it with the piece I cut out (see the first picture grouping). I wanted to compare the fender to the passenger fender to see if the angles matched (see second picture grouping). When I place a straightedge on the front of the fender on the passenger side (4), the straightedge hits the back of the fender right at the wheelwell (3). However, when I do the same to the driver fender (1), the top of the straightedge is about two inches too high (2).
I know that the car's been banged around a bit and I have some straightening to do on both fenders, but I really want to know what the proper angle should be. Could someone who owns a 68 Coronet attach a straightedge to the bottom front of the fender and take a picture of when it hits the bottom back of the fender?
Thanks!
