Hi All. On my 68 charger I have a bag of shims from when I took my car apart. Some are round and others are U shaped. Which ones go where? Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Round are used on the front fenders. U-shims may of been added in a repair. I dont recall them being anywhere.

My guess and painful experience is that the fat round ones would have been on the bottom fender studs.
The U ones would be used along the top of the fender to easily adjust the hood to fender gap on the assembly line.
Just a guess.

I've never seen a Mopar with anything along the top to adjust the hood gap. The fenders are the rigid edge, the inners flex to meet the fenders. The only adjustment point is top rear corner at the cowl and slight adjustment at the rad support.

Pretty sure he meant the shims at rad support to front fender

Shims don't work along the edge.
Ask me how I know.
Original 67 car. Plant unknown. (To.me at least.)
How about here?

There is very little adjustment at the rad support. The fenders bolt down the rad support sides and the holes are elongated horizontally only, and the nuts are welded to the fenders, so there is no height adjustment at the front. You may be able to squeeze a shim in there but why bother, just adjust the hood bumper !!

there is a stud on the under side of fender, just forward of the upper door hinge.......... you're gonna want to slide U shaped shim in there to lift the fender a bit if needed. then another one on the short stud sticking up out of the cowl. they are critical for proper alignment to the cowl, hood, and door......

I have found the round ones at the bottom of the fender, probably so they can't fall out

tip: I leave the long stud under the top of the fender out until after the fender is in place......it's just easier
