A little back story first. I don't know if yall remember a year or so ago the charger transmission quit. I pulled it out and went through it (727) and didn't see a thing. Put back in and nothing, no power and very slow response. I double checked all the adjustments and still lazy. So I thought what haven't I changed it's gotta be the torque converter. But it was a brand new 24-20 from Hughes. I changed it anyway. That changed everything, solid response, proper shifts etc.
Present time.
I get the coronet running and do all the initial startup stuff. Well here we go again, a lazy transmission (727 again)
I check everything again including band adjustments like the charger, all good.
OK I'm gonna change the torque converter because of the previous experience, another brand new Hughes 24-20. Same response, immediate change for the good.
Two Hughes converters are junk? Two different cars, both very mild builds one 383 one a 440. I would have returned the first but I dropped it and damaged it. I buy a no name cheap converter and it works fantastic.
What is going on?
Anybody else have this problem?

The trans and converters were all 24 spline 67 up?

I bought a Hughes torque converter thru Summit, I posted about my experience with them.
What pissed me off was Hughes wanted me to send it back without explaining to me that they sold me the wrong torque converter. They sold me a weighted converter, and I have an internal balanced stroker crank from 440 Source. I ground off the weight and the vibration went away.
