696pack, you're right. I met a guy who was the original owner of a 71 340 Demon, who used to run it on the street "back in the day". He warmed it up a bit with headers and a bigger carb. I asked what cars he feared the most, and he said most big blocks he could shut down, but had a tough go at it with a 390 AMX of all things!

Those are great little cars. With a set of 3.91s, a good tune and some distributor work they will surprise a B body 383 magnum or 440 magnum. Very well balanced car with the small block and handle real nice.

I believe that.

I owned a 69 AMX back in the day with 390, 4 speed, 3.54 twin grip. Those cars have a 96" wheel base and are VERY light. I shocked many people on the street with that car.
