Finally got myself a new truck

Dont worry too much about foam. The key is to use "Closed-cell' foam. We use a variant of this at the factory to fill the rocker panels of our cars. Great-stuff is a closed-cell foam. A sponge is an example of open-cell foam. My 95 Ram has 267k on it and is about 4" shorter all the way around due to rust! Thing is, My tailgate is still mint! No rust or dents!!! I'm actually thinking about filling the rockers of my RR with Great-Stuff!

Wow Matt, nice looking rig! Congrats! My 02 Durango has 176K and still going strong. Just passed smog today, and with flying colors I might add.

Thanks for the comments guys. I think the thing with the foam would be that if water, or even saltwater around here, gets in there it will not evaporate quickly because there is no air flow around it.
So far the truck is getting 12 to 13 mpg, not too bad!

Nice truck kb67mopar, I like the silver.
Thanks, it took me a long time to find one clean like this with the right price tag.

I do like you truck too, I've always loved that body style

The foam thing works, I repaired my brother's old oldsmobile after he got T-boned replacing the back door jamb and part of the wheel well. The inner body section was tweaked and I didnt have the tools to pull it back out so we filled the whole lower rocker and wheel wheel gap with "great stuff" and then used undercoating over the top in the wheel well....for 3 years he drove it and never got a spot of rust (then he donated it).

I don't know that I'd fill a perfectly good rocker or anything with it though, would impede drainage from water getting past window seals etc.
