Don't know where the Croce pic came from....but OK he was one of my favorites.

Good old Sam Bartus built four or five speedways in central Wisconsin in the 50/60's.

Know for his flashy suits he owned a few car dealerships. He was rumored to have forgotten to pay the drivers a few times at the end of the night.

But, all in, he was an amazing promoter and did a lot for stock car racing in the state.

Kirby is a bit of a family friend. As I recall he raced with my grandfather, who was good friends with Dick Trickle. I saw him about 6-7 years ago, he happened to dock his truck where I was working and noticed the name when he checked in. Told me about the new wife and was happy. I remember Fridays at Golden Sand him pulling his semi in after hot laps and then winning mains.
