Firm feel steering boxes

I have an 08 Impala and a 99 Durango. Compared to something like those/modern cars how would you guys compare steering input required and do you have 1, 2, or 3?

I'm looking at a 2 with maybe the close ratio idler and steering arm (have an offer of a new set) which FF says would be between 2 and 3.

I'll be using stock diameter steering wheel more than likely

everybody that bought the stage 2 and stage 3 were happy but about 1/2 the guys with stage 2 wished they had bought the stage 3. None of the stage 3 guys wished they had the stage 2.

Exactly the reason I went with a FF3 in my 72 Satellite. Glad I did, it was just the feel I was hoping for.

just drove my FF Stage II for the first time today. They ought to change the name to Feels Fantastic! Going for an alignment on Friday, I'm stoked to really drive this car with it's all new front end.

Dennis is correct. The steering wheel diameter makes a difference in feel. Remember that Firm Feel stage 1 is not a stock replacement in terms of feel. It's actually 1 level up from stock and is known as the Cop car box. Stage 2 and 3 are firmer yet. I have stage 2 and am happy with it. I also drove Dennis' car with Stage 1 and like it too. Sometimes I wish I could push a switch and have it go from Stage 1 to Stage 2 to Stage 3! The higher your speed, the more you'll appreciate the higher stage boxes and vice versa. Turning from a stop light in my car, the Stage 2 feels a tad heavy, but on the highway it's about perfect. I imagine if I started auto-crossing my car, I'd actually want a Stage 3, but for me I think the 3 would be too much for day to day street driving. Best thing if you can is to find someone who has a Stage 1, 2, or 3 and try it out.

Got stage 1. Wish stage 2. Still a huge improvement. Straight as an arrow now. No corrections. Steering wheel diameter a big factor.

I ordered a FF stage 2 box and it has just been installed. It was put in at the same time I did a front end rebuild with the PST super front end kit.

I was pleasantly surprised that the feel is actually firmer than I anticipated. I have the big factory wood steering wheel and it still feels quite firm even with that. I was concerned that the FF stage 2 box would have too much assist in it and wouldn't have a true muscle car feel. This box makes it feel like you're really controlling a lot of steel. That along with the new front end make that part of the car feel rock solid.

I run a S&G #3 in my E-bod............... luv it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
