Just went to my first big car show this last weekend, didnt win anything but enjoyed the time i got to spend talking about my car.

It was kinda cool there where two groups of people who looked at it, the one who used to own one at some point in their lives ( which was alot more then i imagined) and the ones that kinda glimpsed at the car looked at the interior and then there eyes lighted up.

Also Talked to a guy who was from Germany who visiting and wanted to buy a muscle car and take it back to Germany. He wanted a mustang, but was very impressed looking at my 66 charger (think i got him to maybe rethink the mustang thing).

Got warm welcomes from the very small group of mopar guys that where there maybe 10 out of the 350 cars.

Once again i was reminded how proud i am to own a 1966 dodge charger

Here are few crappy pictures from registration night and the parade

Cool, glad to hear you might have changed the guys mind about the Mustang.
How is the EFI treating you?

So far for the most part its been reliable it did vapor lock during the cruise, but with 350 cars waiting to go through 3 four way stops while 95 degrees out, it didnt surprise me. This winter im gonna put the pump in the tank.

Side note about 15 min before it vapor locked I lighted up the rear wheels pretty good so much that the rear of the car drifted over all while with 4 people and a full tank of gas with out powerbreaking, i was very pleased.

It vapor locked? Thought that wouldn't be a problem once you were EFI'd. You have the Atomic EFI right? That system doesn't run a return, I wonder if it did that would solve the vapor lock problems. An in-tank pump would help too I'm sure. Hot rod City makes a fabricated aluminum tank but they are spendy. Modifying a stock tank for a pump would be the way I would go.

Yeah from what i read efi dont vapor lock as easy but they do. The msd can go both ways single and return, according to instructions in order to do the one line setup it has to be in the tank pump or the pump has to be within 2 feet of the tank and outside temps must be less then 81 degrees on 91+ octane. From the forums i read this has pissed alot of guys off because msd pushed it has returnless and in most cases it cant be setup that way. But i did opt for a return setup, the only place that i could mount the pump close to the tank is only about 4 inches from the muffler. When it locked up the controller showed only 7 psi from the pump, i let it set a couple min and turn key switch on and bam right to 45 psi. If i had to guess it got vapor locked right at the pump.

Maybe you could try fabbing up a heat shield for your current setup?...before comitting to the bigger modifications.

Yeah that even might work too, but i honestly dont expect it to do it again, this happend after idling for about 45 min then driving 5 min and idling at another stop sign for another 25 min then shutting it down for 10 min then fired it back up and it was vapor locking. Dont plan on doing a big car cruise again, about half of the guys said they had heating issues they never had before. I didnt because i got a electric fan and water pump

Cool, I really like the first gens. I never had any intentions on showing mine but after the countless hours I'm thinking it would be cool to share it. Just throwing this out there, are any of your fuel lines running close to hot spots or is there anything you could do to isolate the problem like the mention heat shields maybe around the exhaust. I would just try to get any fuel lines close to heat moved or insulated before doing anything else (just thinking). Unfortunetly what it sounds would help the most isn't easily done and that is getting the engine heat out of the engine compartment while sitting still. Glad you had a good time.
