First time watching Bullitt.

These old movies were the best. Spent Saturday in the shop working on a buddy's 454. We had 2 lane blacktop, vanishing point and the original gone in 60 seconds playing throughout the day. Not bad except that damn chevy fought us every step.

My friends have started the same tradition. We pick car projects to tackle and play classic car movies. The chase seen from Bullit and Two lane blacktop are repeats!

I was stationed in the Bay Area back then with the military, so it is still very vivid in my mind as I have driven the exact same streets and areas that were used in filming. In fact the realism is remarkable even today. For example...the chase scene where Steve is rounding a curve, all of a sudden, a motorcyclist who is coming from the opposite direction actually happens in real time. It seems that the motorcyclist got onto the closed roadway and had to dump his bike, causing Steve to avoid him and slide onto the dirt and gravel are nearly hitting the camera crew that was located there. The look on his face says it all, and thankfully, no one was injured except for Steve's ego. The clip stayed in the final cut...cr8crshr/Bill :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:
Actually, that was all part of the script. The rider of the bike was stuntman Bud Eakins - who was McQueen's stuntman. That goes to show how true your point is - that there's a lot of realism in the movie.
Eakins was also McQueen's stuntman in The Great Escape. In that movie, Eakins did the jump on the motorcycle for McQueen.
